Holy Hermitage of Timios Prodromos

Northwest of the settlement of Akritochori, at the foot of Mount Kerkini (Beles) is built, since 1981, the Holy Hermitage of Timios Prodromos. It is 24 km from Sidirokastro and 50 km from Serres. It is built on the international walking path E4 / E6 and has a panoramic view of Lake Kerkini.

Holy Monastery of Agios Georgios

Near the settlement of Monastiraki, with a wonderful view of Lake Kerkini, is the monastery of Agios Georgios. It is built on the top of a hill and overlooks to the northwest the imposing mountain mass of Mount Kerkini.

Holy Monastery of Saints Kirikos and Ioulitis

On a hill, northeast of Sidirokastro, is built the Holy Monastery of Saints Kirikos and Ioulitis. It is a coenobitic monastery which was founded by the Diocese of Sidirokastro in 1968.

Holy Monastery of Eikosifoinissa

It is one of the two (2) sacred places of Eastern Macedonia, which continues today to be a pole of attraction for many believers, who come to worship the "Handmade Icon of the Virgin" and to calm down in its peaceful environment. It is located in a wonderful location on the north side of Mount Paggaio at an altitude of 743 m, near the provincial road Serres-Kavala at the borders of the two Prefectures.

Holy Monastery of Timios Prodromos

It is located 12km from Serres, at the bottom of a ravine overgrown with cypresses, plane trees and pines. The monastery was built in 1270 AD. and despite the successive destructions, today it is a monument of astonishing beauty and a Museum of Byzantine Art.

Holy Monastery of the Ascension of Paggaio

Seven (7) km from the settlement of Proti with a panoramic view of the plain of the Prefecture of Serres and at an altitude of 930 m. On Mount Paggaio, is the monastery of "Divine Ascension", with great history and action.

Holy Monastery of Agia Kyriaki Alistrati

On the provincial road Serres - Drama, two (2) km before the settlement of Alistrati, in a green landscape, is one of the oldest monasteries, along with the Holy Monastery of Eikosifoinissa, the monastery of Ag. Sunday.

Holy Monastery of Agia Paraskevi Domiros

In the southern part of the Prefecture of Serres, two (2) km from the village of Domiros and five (5) km from the foot of Mount Paggaios, in a picturesque location, is the Holy Monastery of Ag. Friday.

Holy Monastery of Panagia Vyssiani Metochi

Ten (10) km north of the city of Serres and two (2) km from the settlement of Metochi, in a green landscape at the bottom of a ravine, is the female church of Panagia Vyssiani.

Holy Monastery of the Holy Cross of Ag. Spirit

About fifteen (15) km from the city of Serres, in the settlement of Agios Pneumatos, on the outskirts of Mount Menoiki, the Monastery of the Holy Cross is built. It is located high on a hill, with a panoramic view of the plain and the city of Serres, in a lush pine landscape.

Holy Monastery of Prophet Elias - Holy Spirit

On the north side of the settlement of the Holy Spirit, opposite the Holy Monastery of the Holy Cross, high on a green pine-covered hill, dominates the Monastery of the prophet Elias. The first temple was built in 1900 but was deserted over the years. The current Katholikon, built in the Mount Athos style, retained only two walls from the old church. In the chapel of Panagia Myrtidiotissa, there is the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary.
